When the swimming season comes to an end, it is the moment to think about wintering your swimming pool. Following some simple tips, you will be able to maintain the water of your swimming pool all winter and reuse it during several seasons.
Also, take into account that the cost during the winter season will be minimum, since the hours of filtration and products you will use will be much less.
At Piscinas Vailet, we discourage you stop completely the filtration system and spoil the swimming pool water, since in this case it will be much more difficult to recover it when summer arrives (both economically as laboriously). We also strongly discourage emptying completely your swimming pool, since the swimming pool vase can crack and suffer fissures due to the pressure of the surrounding earth. Also, the lining of the swimming pool (either if it is ceramic, fiber or PVC) will suffer much more to the inclement weather, causing color loss, firmness, detachment, cracks, etc.
Tips for the wintering of your swimming pool
- Before you start with the treatment, it is convenient to clean the floor of your swimming pool and remove the leaves and floating dirt. Also, it is convenient to realize a backwash of the filter.
- To disinfect the possible microorganism that might be in the water, we will realize a shock chlorination.
- After leaving the chlorine to act a minimum of six hours, we will add a wintering product in the indicated dose by the manufacturer. It is normally applied in two phases, at the entry of autumn (September – October) and in winter (December – January).
- The products have to always be added in the water with the filtration equipment on and dissolved, especially if your lining is of PVC.
- In the areas where the temperature goes below 0ºC, it is very recommendable to place some sort of floating device to prevent the surface to freeze and damage the accessories of the wall. It is also advised to monitor during winter, the increase off the water level due to rains to avoid overflows.
- Also remember to realize a complete cleaning of the swimming pool accessories (skimmers, jet mouths, gates, baskets, ….)
