To have your swimming pool in perfect conditions when summer starts may seam something easy and obvious; nevertheless, we spend little time thinking about the wear that the structure and basic elements suffer, and what we have to do to improve this. There are 3 fundamental keys:

• The structure has to be resistant to mechanical tensions (weight of the water, side thrust of the of the land, etc).

In the case that your swimming pool has a concrete structure, it is very possible that it has small fissures, which is normal in this type of structure, but these last do not have to represent a problem when it refers to resistance.

• The filtration system has to guarantee a correct water recirculation in order to always have a clean and crystalline water, which will not occur if your sand filtration system does not work correctly.
• The inner lining has to be watertight. A tile lining for example can have lost its watertightness. In most cases, the small ground movements that are produced as the swimming pool vase settles into the land, causing small fissures in the structure, which eventually lets the water pass once the watertight material, no longer realizes its function. As previously indicated, to watertight a swimming pool with tiles, the waterproofing material has to be installed underneath the tiles.

Watertight the structure regardless the type of structure

After many years building swimming pools, at Vailet we know that the best way to warranty the watertightness of a swimming pool consists in covering the interior of the vase with a waterproofing material, totally independent of its structure. Repairing the water leaks reusing the same techniques that has made the leaks appear does not resolve anything. On the other hand, waterproofing the swimming pool with a totally independent material to the vase movements, guarantees a longer lifetime of this last.
